In 1974, Intermec developed Code 39, still one of the world's most widely used alphanumeric bar code symbologies. In 1981, we introduced the first CCD imager portable bar code scanner. In 1995, Intermec introduced the first handheld 2D data-matrix scanner. In 1999, Intermec introduced the first combination bar code and RFID scanner. In 2005, we brought the first Micro Electrical Mechanical System (MEMS)-based laser scanner to the market. And in 2006, Intermec delivered the breakthrough EX25 near-far area imaging engine – a technology that opens the door to whole new ways of managing data capture applications.
